His heart beat with happiness and great anticipation as he looked at the victory within his reach. The harvest had come at last. But he didn’t know how he was going to get the fruit down. He walked around the tree looking for a way, and then tried climbing the tree. He reached up and pulled himself up, but a little way up he slipped and fell. So close! He felt a little fear. But the thought of the apple just barely within his reach drove him on. He made another attempt, and another and another.
And then! Finally, stretched out on the highest branch, reaching just a little further, stretching every muscle in his body, he could just feel the skin of the fruit. But could he reach any further? In the next second, with a grasp, the apple was in his hand.
