Here is a simple meditation process you can try to test or develop your powers of concentration.
1. Sit with your legs crossed and your hands at your side, or in your lap.
2. For a few minutes, time your breathing so that you inhale for a count of 6 and exhale for a count of six. This is, in itself, a form of concentration, and as a result your breathing will automatically slow down. As your breathing slows, inhale and exhale for longer counts.
3. When you feel calm and relaxed, take your mind off your breathing and allow yourself to breathe normally as your body desires. (Continued…)
